He now brings us PSYCHOVILLE, a 7-part series written and starring THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN's STEVE PEMBERTON and REECE SHEARSMITH. The series is to be aired on BBC Two from Thursday 18th June 2009. An embittered one-handed clown; a desperately misguided midwife; a lovestruck telekinetic dwarf; a blind avaricious collector; and a serial-killer-obsessed man-child... five seemingly unconnected characters share one thing in common. Despite coming from different parts of the country and having different backgrounds and interests, each one has been sent an anonymous, black-edged card bearing the chilling message: "I know what you did..." With a great plot and multiple storylines PEMBERTON and SHEARSMITH delight with their clever characterisation (playing many of the characters themselves with the help of make up and prosthetics). With the dialogue they provide something that is brutal, dark and hideously funny. As always there is a surreal uniqueness to their work that stands it apart from other comedy series. LIPSEY has really run with this, enriching the material with a strong supporting cast including amongst others DAWN FRENCH. He also adds an enthralling energy and pace to each episode, alongside lavish art direction and lighting.
